Have a look at the general weather forecast for the weekend, and think about the time of year. This will instruct you on what sort of things to bring with you. Bare in mind that we will be sailing at night when it can be considerably colder than in the day.
Ideally your things should be packed into a collapsable holdall or large rucksack. Please do not bring a large suitcase as they can be hard to stow on board. If you have any questions about the type or size of your bag then feel free to email Joe Dolphin (profile).
Here is a list of some things we recommended you bring on the trip:
There will be Club waterproofs available to hire for everyone on the trip if you wish (small fee for rental at sign-up). These are all Musto MPX and include a jacket and salopettes (trousers).
Do not forget to bring a sleeping bag There is no bedding on board, and we don't usually have a spare sleeping bag for you to borrow. A pillow makes the boat extremely comfortable if you can fit it in your bag and you may want an eye mask/ear plugs if you're a light sleeper. Bear in mind in the warmer locations can leave the boat quite hot during the night so good to have lighter sleeping clothe options in case you want to sleep outside your sleeping bag.
As long as you are careful, it's fine to bring electronics on the boat. Most people bring phones and cameras on trips. The boat has a sound system for playing music up on deck and down below, there is a CD player and you can stream music from your phone with Bluetooth or plug it in with an auxillary audio cable.
Think carefully before bringing a laptop, as you are unlikely to use it (unless you need it for some reason). However people have brought them on trips in the past without any problems. Everything is brought at your own liability.
If you have a history of getting seasick, or don't know if you will get seasick or not, then it's a good idea to bring some seasickness tablets just in case. We recommend Stugeron which are available from most pharmacists. Although many people prefer Kwells, which are also available over the counter and have the advantage of quicker action. This is more or less important depending on the trip you are on. Any doubt ask the skipper.
YOU MUST BRING A PASSPORT ON THIS TRIP! (check it is in date) If you require a holiday VISA to travel to Europe then please let us know when you sign up and contact Joe Dolphin (profile).
