Taste the Summer on the East Coast (2-4 May 2014)

One weekend, eight people and a boat. This is their tale...
Friday night’s mooring was a cross between Goldilocks and the Three Bears – nooooo, that ones’ too X, nope that one’s too Y, and that one… was a practice in one, two, three times a charm! Harpooned that s.o.b. (son of a biscuit eater) thanks to that crazy goggle wearin' Ahab of an Adam! (We reckon the helmsman was having a bit of fun at the crew’s expense. That’s okay, 'princess' got payback the next night…)
What a glorious Saturday! Slipped our mooring, saluted the Felixstowe ‘dinosaurs’ and it was sunshine and smiles all the way to River Crouch. Some bobbing and weaving required around a mismarked cardinal, but hey-ho, or was that heave-ho? It was nibbles all way courtesy of some industrious chopping below deck by Shivani and Zeynep.
Arriving at Burnham Marina that night, Dan nearly pulled a dunkin’ donut maneuver off of the bow. Instead, he proved that barnacles are people too. (Meanwhile, Rebecca wasn’t sure how the boat ended up so far away from the pontoon… [whistle + sneaky sideways glance]).
Settled into dinner and a delightful cultural exchange. Did you know that the word ‘bonk’ doesn’t necessarily mean what you thought it did?
Posh nosh was completed by some scrummy Jordanian pancakes drizzled in syrup infused with rose and orange water [queue: OOOooOOOoOooo!] Skipper ST thou has spoilt us all!
Sunday the wind was up and so was the spinnaker and then it was down, and then it was up again, and then... Jane had enough of that and pounced it royally! Made good time back to Harwich where some grizzly Puffin Pirates dared crossed our bow. Kestrel’s hearty crew was all hands on deck to create some distance aided by Rachel’s handy sail-trim. From there it was smooth sailing.
Adventures to be continued!

This made my day! Miss you all a bunch and, especially our trusty Skipper's pancakes! I've been terrible about making it out to pub meets but still remember all my knotty knot-tying tricks (thanks to Knot Master Rachel). You'll all be glad to know I'm now more comfortable with the notion of being "boat-clean."
